Reserve Grand Champion Multi-colored Stallion
Toyland Taquito
Shown by Darin Southwick

We are located in rural White Oak Township, Michigan.

In the Spring of 2007 my husband and I purchased an old Gothic style barn and several acres of land adjcant to our home and I quote, my husband said " If we buy the barn you can buy more horses".  While my husband later tried to modify his statement, I began purchasing "more horses".

That marked the start of my breeding program, and after an entire summer of cleaning out the barn, building stalls and running fence our horse farm is up and running.  Our farm specializes in breeding Falabella and Falabella blend miniature horses.  Our focus is to breed performance horses with the movement necessary for show quality cart driving.

Love them spots, I am breeding for Appaloosa and Pinto color patterns.

After purchasing one of my new horses I noticed something different in their registration.  It was listed that the horse was a Falabella, as I had no idea what breed that was I started researching the Falabella.  I would find that the Falabella is considered the original minature horse and with decades of selective breeding the Falabella horses have a distinct look to there confirmation, an excellent disposition, graceful movement and as an added bonus many are appaloosa or pinto.

During my research I came across the Falabella Breeders and Owners Society www.falabellabreeders.org and found an ad placed by Susan Oswald listing several horses for sale.

It was love at first site with her stallion Toyland Taquito, a gorgeous pure bred Falabella black leopard appaloosa.  Once he arrived at our farm I noticed that he had an absolutely captivating way of moving, between his movement and all the spots I could not stop watching him, so I contacted Darin Southwick who agreed to train Taquito for country pleasure driving and Taquito (nicknamed Taco) started showing in the AMHA this year.  Taquito had no show experience prior to going to Southwick Training Stables and in his first show this year he was awarded 2 Reserve Grand Champions and one Grand Champion in country pleasure driving, and has also been awarded numerous first places in the Multi-color stallion color class.  He has qualified and is going to this years AMHA World Show.  We are proud of "our boy" and the exceptional training he has received at the Southwick Training Stables www.southwickstables.com.
I want to extend a special thanks to Cammie Cavanaughwww. westwindfarms.org who sold me my first miniautre horse and whose guidance and advice while starting my own miniature horse showing and breeding program has been invaluable.

HCM War Paints WildFyre is a AMHA Grand National Champion stallion and is the pinto half of my breeding program.  He is a beautifully refined chestnut pinto who's show record includes AMHA Regional Top Ten Yearling Stallion 30-32',  AMHA National Top Ten Futurity Yearling Stallion 30-32", AMHA National Top Ten Futurity Two Year Old Stallion 30-32", and Grand and Supreme Halter Champion.  His blood line includes Chianti, a famous pure Falabella stallion.  By combining Wildfyres offspring with Taquito I plan to produce exceptional Falabella blend foals as Wildfyre has already sired many exceptional show quality foals.  Wildfyre is listed in the"Outstanding Miniature Horse Stallions, Past and Present, volume 1", by Pat Elder.
